Tutoring English - beautiful children from the community

Creative minds - The local children made a see-saw from steel frames

During the lecture phase we had amazing opportunities to serve others in the local community. Every week we taught English and supported the local children with their homework and played games. We also had openness to encourage and celebrate a child's birthday.

Your probably wondering "wow, Sela you have seen the beauty of India what about the other side of India". The other side is the stuff you frequently see on the news. I expected the harsh realities of third world but I wasn't going to sit back and watch but do something about it. So we were blessed  first hand to experience a small residential area where families are living in poor conditions and without basic needs. At first I was so overwhelmed with saddness as I walked around and then started to greet the people I was filled with compassion. The children were incredibly friendly and l noticed their big brown eyes looking at us. As we sang children's songs the sense of joy was evident. I will always remember their faces. #grace
